Ltd. The foundation stone was laid on August 27, 1997. In the late 1990s the Japanese Mori Building Corporation (the developer of SWFC) had a fund shortage caused by the Asian financial crisis, which halted the project after the foundations were completed. Construction finally resumed on February 13th, 2003. The original plann was a 460m, 94 story tall building, and it was supose to be completed in 2001, and become the world tallest building two years before the completion of Taipei 101. But the design was changed in 2003 to a 491.9m and 101 stories tall building with a 50m wide and tall rectangular opening on the top of the building. Mori Building Corporation actually proposed to raise the building up to 510m so it could surpass Taipei 101's 508m as the world's No. 1 skyscraper, but this was declined by local authorities in Shanghai saying the city has a limit to building heights and an overall consideration of the skylines on both sides of the Huangpu River. The design of the opening near the top of the tower was changed in mid-October, 2005; from a circular to a rectangular opening. Guangzhou: Pearl River New City, West Tower - 532m/104 floors (U/C)

Name of project: West Tower, Pearl River New City, Guangzhou, China Height: 432m Number of storeys above ground: 104 Plot space: 31,084.96m2 Total floor space: 448,000m2 Total investments: 750 million USD Date of ground breaking: 26 December 2005 Estimated year of completion: 2009 Functions: offices, hotel, apartments, convention, shopping, sightseeing, culture and entertainment, etc. In the future, an East Tower will be built next to this building. It is not clear yet if design of the East Tower has started. As for the question whether the East Tower will look the same as the West Tower, people in charge say there will be "harmony" between the two. well since the world is currently booming with skyscrapers with many over 300m, ive decided to just include skyscrapers 400m+.It was getting ridiculous with 2-3 being added every month. nearly 60, just simply amazing. it was taking days just to update the diagram. so ive increased the height to 400m (with spire). ive included projects 398m to roof.so now about 20 supertalls. heres the first draft copy.as you can see i havent detailed alot of dubai projects (far left). ill update them over next few days. any serious proposals (400m+ missing ???) whats the deal with west pearl tower at 532m? is that for both or just one? so many from china coming up but har to get info our updates. btw is the jakarta tower uc? >

Guangzhou: Guangzhou TV Tower - 610m (U/C)
